Task: Create a card game.
Well, I have experience with this...
For one thing, there are a few types. Pets have a default type. It can be changed. The types are as follows:
Normal, Fire, Water, Grass, ground, Water, light and Dark. It works a bit like rock-paper-scissors. Fire does 10 extra damage to grass, grass to water, water to ground, ground to fire.
Light and dark do 10 extra damage to each other.
A deck has about 50 cards. To win, you need to defeat 7 enemy pets.
To defeat a pet, lower it's HP to 0. Pet's have attacks that let this happen.
There are items in the game, like healing ones. They heal. There also items with special effects, like breeding coins.
A breeding coin lets you take two pets in play (but not fighting) and combine them into a hybrid. Hybrids are stronger and have strange names.
About the whole 'in play' thing. You start with a hand of 5. You draw cards each turn. When you have a pet in your hand, you can put it in play. Only 5 pets can be in play at one time. Only one of those may be fighting. The other 4 are behind the fighting pet, and are put into play when it's defeated. Or with an item.
After defeating a pet, a player is allowed to draw a card from their 'spoil' pile. This is a pile with cards from their own deck.
There are also location cards. These stay in play until replaced. They have different effects.
Pets with colors are known as 'rare'. They can be placed on top of pets of the same species. They can not be placed otherwise.
